Keep Calm and Hypnobirth

Hypnobirthing with Heidi Smith

Courses are taught with the birth partner, either over 2 consecutive Saturdays, or an evening over 4 weeks consisting of 10 face to face teaching hours with time to ask questions. Structuring the course in this way means you can take in the information at a steady pace. However I also offer a Hypnobirthing Intensive on a Saturday over 7 hours, with all the necessary information to set you up for a confident and positive birth experience. This course is ideal for those pushed for time.

You will learn:

  • Breathing exercises, deep relaxation techniques and visualisations
  • Powerful ways to release fear and build confidence
  • Comforting massage
  • How the father can support his partner in birth
  • How a womans body is designed to give birth with efficiency and comfort
  • Knowledge and information about  procedures and choices you may face in birth that will empower you to ask questions and make decisions where necessary that are right for you and your baby
  • A simple practice regime to support you at home
  • You will also receive course handouts, the hypnobirthing book, mp3 relaxations and email support leading up to your birth.

My wish is for you and your baby to have an empowered birth experience and the best start of life together. I teach KGHypnobirthing which is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives and is a complete and in-depth antenatal course.

I will show you how the female body is perfectly rigged to birth and that birthing is a normal and natural function of the body just like the many other reflexes we have.

By building confidence in the knowledge of this helps nurture a positive expectation of birth so that you can release any fears and trust your body, your baby and your instincts.

I will give you information and knowledge of the systems that surround birth and within the NHS that  help or hinder the birth experience. We will look at the choices you may be faced with in your birthing journey and the implications of various routes so that you can be empowered in the decision making process and in doing whats best for you and your baby alongside a confident birth partner.

Investment in birth preparation is worth it.

Benefits to you & your baby

  • A comfortable and positive birth is more likely.
  • Your baby is more likely arrive into a calm and relaxed environment, alert and ready to bond with you just as nature intended.
  • Hypnobirthing births are often much shorter.
  • Your baby and you are less likely to be exposed to drugs and medical intervention
  • Hypnobirthing mums often have a quicker recovery after birth as the physical impact of labour is reduced.
  • The birth partner learns how to  have an active role in supporting mum in the birth. A beautifully connecting experience.

Can I book a Private Session?

Yes. The advantage of this is I can come to your home and we can also figure out times and days that are most suited to you and your birth partner. Private sessions cost £290

I have already used Hypnobirthing for a previous birth. Do you offer refresher courses?

Yes refresher courses are approx 4.5 hours long depending on your individual needs and cost £115.

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally induced state of relaxed concentration. We experience it everyday when we are waking up and as we fall asleep. Its just like staring into a fire or daydreaming. There is no magic to it.  In hypnobirthing we use this this state of mind to communicate positive suggestions in order to stay relaxed, yet fully in control.

Is reading the Hypnobirthing Book and listening to the Relaxation Sufficient?

Sometimes people ask if doing this is sufficient without coming to a course. The answer is, ‘I don’t know’.  For a few mothers it is but for many it isn’t (though it will always make a difference).  Unfortunately you don’t know if this is the case for you until after your baby is born.

"The thing about hypnobirthing is that it works" - Dad

"Thanks so much for your valuable class; I had the most amazing birth, probably the best night of my life" - Mother

"I have been present at Hypnobirthing births and seen how in control the women are, and how also the partners are a lot calmer and able to help, and what a difference it really does make to the start of parenthood for them" - Midwife

About Me

I have trained in both the Mongan Method and KGH. I began teaching in 2010 and have helped many couples achieve positive birth outcomes.

Both my children were birthed using hypnobirthing. I practised it throughout my pregnancy's and can personally testify to how amazing it is.

My deep wish is for you and your baby to also have an empowered birth experience and the best possible start to your lives together. I look forward to sharing Hypnobirthing with you.
